We want you to enjoy the adult ministries and activities provided at the Hills. We also want your child to enjoy an environment that is healthy and conducive to spiritual growth.
Our caring and knowledgeable staff will help your child learn the Bible in a way that is understandable, fun and will facilitate your child's healthy interaction with other children the same age.
Take a look at the brief overview of our many children's ministries below!
(Newborn through 24 Months)
Do you have a little one who needs attention? Your child's first experience at Indian Hills will be with the loving care provided by our Wee Care Nursery. A trained staff and an on-duty nures will tenderly watch over your baby while you participate in the adult ministries of Indian Hills. Babies in our nursery are grouped according to ability (newborn, crawlers, walkers and advanced walkers).
In the event your immediate attention should be required, our call-light system will notify you. This allows you to be with your child within a moment's notice. The nursery is available Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday evening.
(Two and a Half through Five Years Old)
Our toddlers and preschoolers learn about God's love for them in age-appropriate classes.
Your little one will especially enjoy the puppet ministry that is part of our preschool program on Sunday mornings.
Sunday Schoool & Children's Church
(Five Years Old through Sixth Grade)
Learning the Bible can be an exciting adventure for young people. Sunday School and Children's Church offer interesting learning opportunities for our children.
Sunday School meets from 8:45-9:40 a.m., (for all children) and Children's Church meets from 10:30-11:30 a.m. (for children five years old through fourth grade). Please tell one of the ushers how old your child is, and he will direct you to the appropriate classroom.
The purpose of Sunday School and Children's Church is to teach children the basic truths of the Bible at a level they understand.
Instruction is through Bible stories and general overviews of the Old and New Testaments. Singing Bible songs and making crafts pertaining to the story help reinforce the lesson.
Music is not only for adults. Our Children's Music Ministry begins with Sonshine Kids (for preschool children and continues through eighth grade.
During these formative years, the children learn many great hymns of the Chirstian faith as well as lively tunes and familiar Bible songs. By the time these children finish eighth grade, they will have memorized more than two hundred songs.
As part of the Children's ministry, your child will not only have fun singing, but will learn how to sing correctly and read music.
(Four and Five Years Old)
Sunday evenings are exciting for the four- and five-year-old children involved in Sonshine Kids. While adults participate in the evening worship service, Sonshine Kids learn about God's Word through Bible lessons, songs, games, and our Puppet Ministry.
(Three Years Old through Sixth Grade)
Pleny of activities await your youngster on Wednesday evenings with our AWANA program.
Children are divided into five clubs: Cubbies for children three and four years old; Sparks for kindergarten through second grade; Chums for girls in third and fourth grade; Pals for boys in third and fourth grade; Guards for girls in fifth and sixth grade; and Pioneers for boys in fifth and sixth grade.
AWANA teaches your child God's Word through Bible verse memorization, Bible lessons and fun games.
Boys of Faith
(First through Sixth Grade)
Boys of Faith provides a wonderful setting for our sons to meet with other men and boys while studying God's Word. They learn Spiritual truths through Bible verse memorization, fun projects, music, games and crafts.
Meeting on Sunday nights, Boys of Faith is for boys in first through sixth grade.
Summer camp, winter lock-ins, spring and fall camp-outs and Pinewood Derby races add to the fun.
Girls of Grace
(First through Sixth Grade)
Girls of Grace is devoted to teaching our young ladies God's Word through Bible lessons, homemaking projects, music time, service projects and Bible memorization. We meet on Sunday nights September through May.
Our girls work with their hands. Whether baking, sewing or serving others, the girls are learning valuable skills they can use for the rest of their lives.
Special activities like summer camp, Mother/Daughter Tea, and Daddy/Daughter Date Night add to the relationship building process as our young ladies learn and apply God's Word to their lives.
Vacation Bible School
(Four Years Old through Sixth Grade)
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is always a highlight of the summer for the young people in our community.
Each summer, for one week, VBS teaches a Bible theme to the four-year-old through sixth grade children through a variety of activities that are both profitable and fun.
Each day the children meet together to sing to the Lord and watch skits performed by our VBS staff. The children then break into age-related groups for teaching, games, crafts and plenty of refreshments.
VBS week is also known for the vividly colorful room decorations which transform the church to fit the VBS theme. The highlight of the week is the Thursday night VBS musical program in which the children sing and share what they learned during the week.
